2 of 3 people found the following review helpful A-1, September 12, 2011 By This review is from: Louis Garneau X-Lite Helmet (Misc.) I almost bought this helmet here, size Large, without trying it on. I'm glad I didn't. I have a fairly oblong shaped head and my circumference measures right at 23.25 (59 cm), which is right at the edge between Med and Lg. So, I found a local bike shop that carries LG gear and went and tried it on this last Saturday (9/10/11). The Medium fit like a glove. I also tried the Exo-Nerv and the Quartz in Med. Could not fit in them. The Quartz is very oval shape and the Exo-Nerv, in a size large, fit just like the medium X-Lite, and gave me too much of the proverbial "mushroom look."
The X-Lite (in medium) not only fit perfectly, with room for adjusting the SL Spider Lock for a tighter fit, it also looked good -like a mere extension of my head-. And best of all, the LBS discounted it to $140.00 from $170.00, to match the price here close enough. So I paid a little over $8.00 in tax; I took the helmet home that day, not having to wait 2 - 3 days for the order to process,... Read more
Helmet buckle issues, June 12, 2012 This review is from: Louis Garneau X-Lite Helmet (Misc.) Normally I rate Garneau products highly. This helmet is light and comfortable but that is where it ends. The buckles at the ear drops and the chin strap are awful holding at best. I am familiar and read how to loosen and tighten the ear drops by the bending in the middle and then straightening every which way to adjust and all that. But..........the adjustment does not hold worth a darn for even a short ride to the market. The chin strap is even worse for this. I have to constantly tighten the buckles. This worries me to another end and that is what happens when and if it is needed to hold in a fall? I hope I do not have to experience that. So.....I am looking again for another helmet. And no I cannot recommend this helmet due to the inferior buckle systems.
So do not waste your money on this helmet. Look for a more secure design.
Super light helmet!!, April 2, 2012 This review is from: Louis Garneau X-Lite Helmet (Misc.) I'm incredibly happy with my new Louis Garneau helmet! It has better cranial coverage in the back than the Giro Pro-Light (the main reason I choose this helmet) and as the name says its "Lite" which means I can wear it alllll day long! Awesome!
