Bought this for my GF, December 30, 2011 By Amazon Verified Purchase This review is from: BERN Watts EPS Summer Matte Helmet with Grey Brim (Sports) I bought a bike for my girlfriend and she refused to get a dorky cyclist helmet. I wanted to get her something that she felt comfortable to wear in public while protecting her thinking box. We saw someone rocking one of these in NYC and she pointed her out and said, "I want one of those." The moment she put it on, she looked like a hot skater chick. I love it that I can worry a bit less about the possible effects of a bad California driver while she can worry less about looking like a member of the nerd herd.

Focus on the positive.
The Bern Watts is not so unique as it is different (a distinction in that the helmet does not look like other cycle helmets but does resemble an old batters helmet.)
When I wear the Bern Watts my wife says I look like a motorcycle gang member. Yep - I'm good with that.
Excellent padding all around. This helmet informs you that you can take a knock on the noggin and won't see whirlin' birdies.
I particularly like the brim on the helmet which may seem like a pointless frill, and indeed, I myself had that very same thought, however I demonstrated the effectiveness of the brim the other day in an act of magnificent clumsy choreography.
